• Hello and Welcome!

My name is Ms. Houk and I am the Learning Support teacher for grades K-5 at both W. W. Evans Elementary and Beaver-Main Elementary. This is my third year with the Bloomsburg Area School District.

I am from Bloomsburg but left the area in 2000 to teach on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. From there, I moved to Vermont where I lived and worked for 16 years. While in Vermont, I was the Early Education Director (public preK) for many years, an Elementary school Principal, and a Director of Special Education. I am thrilled to be back in my hometown and back in the classroom.

My students make me laugh every day and I learn from them as much as they learn from me (for instance, did you know that frogs "freeze" in the winter and thaw out in the spring? I learned that from a second grader.)

On a personal note, I have a son and a daughter who are young adults and out on their own. My son is getting married in September. He and his fiancee live in Brooklyn, NY. My daughter lives in California. Fortunately for me, I do love to travel and experience new things.

When I'm not at school, I enjoy reading, walking, yoga, gardening, and taking my German Short-haired Pointer to the beach.
