Below are several drawing challenges, choose the challenge that interests you or try them all! Make sure you take a look at the art vocabulary to help you along the way.
Important Art Vocabulary
- Sketch: a drawing- often created to help in making a more finished picture
- Medium: materials that are used to create a work of art
(I used pencil as my medium to create a sketch.)
- Thumbnail Sketch: small, quick drawings
- Observational Drawing: Drawing what you see
- Details: small features of a drawing (Ex. Details to make a tree look more interesting: adding the texture of the bark, leaves, blossoms, roots popping up from the ground)
- Elements of Art: Line, Shape, Color, Texture, Value, Space, Form
- Principles of Design: Pattern, Emphasis, Movement, Balance, Proportion, Unity, Contrast
Drawing Challenge #1: Draw Something...
Complete the drawing prompts that are pictured below. You may use any medium, and the sketch could be any size. Remember to add details, be creative, and have fun!

Day 1: Vines- Draw an object. Use a line to make it look like it is wrapping around object
