Welcome, Guest!
My name is Myra Golomb and I am the Elementary Certified School Nurse for BASD and St. Columba. I am usually in each building at least once every week. Since I cannot be in each school all the time, your child's health needs are also met by health room assistants. Health room assistants are (position open) (WWE), Lea Sokol, LPN (Memorial), Heather Nenstiel (Beaver), and Jill Trapane (St. Columba). My email address is: mgolomb@bloomsd.k12.pa.us.
Each year, health screenings are completed with each student, which include height, weight, BMI (body mass index), and vision. Students in grades K-3 and 7 also receive hearing screenings. You will be notified of any identified vision or hearing concerns with a referral letter.
If your child is in grade K, 3, or 7 this year, we will need a report from your dentist for your child's health record. Grade K, and 6 and all new students need a physical exam on file. If your child needs either, you have/will receive a reminder notice. Forms for these exams are available on the district website or the reports may be handed in on whatever form your health care provider uses. Mobile Dentist is available once or twice a year for BASD students and their permission forms are sent home with each student prior to their visits. Parents may also enroll their child online at www.MySchoolDentist.com or by calling 1-855-481-8639. Beaver Main students will be transported via bus or van to another district building for Mobile Dentist visits.
Anytime your child receives immunizations, please let us know so we can update your child's record. If you have any medical concerns for your child, please do not hesitate to call! I can be reached most often at Memorial (570-784-6135). Email is perhaps the easiest way to reach me for non-emergent matters. I do check my email at least daily.
In addition to being a Certified School Nurse, I am “Mom” to three adult children: sons Dagaen and Dylan and daughter Kayti. My husband and I enjoy geocaching and remodeling projects at home. I enjoy baking, and I also keep chickens and am learning beekeeping. I wish you and your family a healthy, happy school year!
