• BMS VISION STATEMENT

    "Bloomsburg Middle School envisions a collaborative school-wide community that provides a safe, supportive environment encouraging students to perform at their highest level of educational, developmental, and personal growth. This vision fosters a sense of responsibility, self-esteem, discipline, respect, and high academic achievement during the transitional middle school years."

     
    TEACHER COLLABORATION

    Develop and implement a middle school teaming philosophy where educators can collaborate and create quality learning opportunities for all students.

    SAFE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

    In an attempt to facilitate this vision step, members of BMS are encouraged to establish a safe school, implement and sustain a bullying prevention program, and develop and post clear and consistent rules and guidelines, including but not limited to the cafeteria, hallway, emergency situations, locker use, study halls.

    STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

    In an attempt to facilitate this vision step, members of BMS are encouraged to integrate an effective discipline policy with consistent consequences, expect students to be prepared, and adhere to rules and guidelines for study halls, library, cafeteria, hallways, and playground.

    The administration and teachers will emphasize student responsibility, develop alternative consequences for chronic offenders, and enforce proper dress by all.

    COMMUNICATION

    In an attempt to facilitate this vision step, members of BMS are encouraged to share pertinent information that may affect a student’s learning or behavior, maintain confidentiality. utilize e-mail accounts created for all faculty and staff, include aides in phone chain, improve communication among administration, faculty, staff and students, and increase internet and website usage.

    MIDDLE SCHOOL CULTURE

    In an attempt to facilitate this vision step, members of BMS are encouraged to embrace the middle school concept, promote a student-centered atmosphere. design a plan for activity periods, improve school climate, and develop more pride in school.

    ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

    In an attempt to facilitate this vision step, members of BMS are encouraged to emphasize improving academic achievement, explore other educational opportunities as electives, utilize a nine period day with the extra period devoted to activities that promote life-long learning.

    PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

    In an attempt to facilitate this vision step, members of BMS are encouraged to integrate more parent participation and encourage parental involvement in their child’s responsibilities and education.
