• Bloomsburg Memorial PTO Meeting Minutes Meeting Date: September 4th, 2024; held at BMES Library Total in attendance: 12 in-person, 5 on Zoom

    1. Meeting called to order at 6:01 pm.
    2. Appreciation
      • PTO President Michelle Davis thanks the members of this year’s PTO board: Fundraising Chairs- Courtney Lopiccolo & Mary Raskob, Treasurer- Angela Gregory, and Secretary- Marcia Ball.

    3)   Prior Meeting Minutes

      • There are no prior meeting minutes to approve this month. Happy New School Year Everyone!

    4)   Officer Reports

      • President: Michelle Davis
    1. PTO has purchased a new tablecloth with logo to be used at our events. The price of this was $34.98.
    2. PTO has purchased 6 outdoor signs totaling $37.97. These will be placed outside of the school and used to promote/remind about PTO meetings.
    3. PTO has purchased 4 pairs of shoes to donate to the ‘cares closet’ at school.
    4. Sign-ups are placed around at tonight’s meeting if anyone wants to sign up to volunteer for upcoming events. PTO will also post a Sign-Up Genius on Facebook when volunteers are needed. Please be sure to check your clearances are up-to-date!
    5. When you shop at Walmart, you can choose to ‘round-up’ you total and donate to Memorial Elementary thanks to their Spark Good program!
    6. PTO has been having problems sending emails to anyone with a Gmail account. Emails are being kick-backed. This is currently being investigated/worked on!
    7. There was one change made to the Bylaws regarding start date of new board members. Bylaws can be found on the schools website under the PTO tab.

    1. As of 8/30/24 we have $9033.34 in our checking account & $4367.27 in our savings account. This is including the sensory walk project.
      • Fundraising Report: Courtney Lopiccolo
        1. Courtney and Mary have been trying to come up with a few different prizes for students who sell donuts this year during our 2 Krispy Kreme sales. They have a

    few ideas but would love any suggestions! Feel free to email ptome@bloomsd.org with suggestions.

     

          1. Ideas so far: Smencils, color changing cups, Bloomsburg beanie, Bloomsburg cup, Sensory Putty
      • Principal’s Report: Nicole Delgotto
        1. We are entering year 3 of our ‘cares closet’ and have helped a countless number of students in need. Our ‘cares closet’ could always use donations of shoes in a variety of children’s sizes and ‘hygiene bags’ (containing items such as: soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, etc.).
        2. Our first Kindergarten ‘signing day’ went well!

    5)   Unfinished Business

      • Sensory Playground Project
        1. The total cost for this project was $4,312.84.
        2. We are hoping to get sponsors for our newly painted playground and will be placing a banner in the playground with all sponsors on it. PTO is looking for anyone interested in taking on the task of handing out donation letters to local organizations. If interested, email ptome@bloomsd.org.
        3. Once our PTO Venmo is up and running, we will be posting a ‘$5 Friday’ in hopes of receiving donations towards our project expenses.
      • Friday Night 5K Face Painting
        1. This event was really fun and PTO had a great time at our face painting table.
      • Teacher Gift Cards
    1. Each year PTO offers $25 gift cards to teachers to help towards school supplies.
    2. So far this year, 30 teachers have requested their cards. Teachers, you have until September 30th to get your requests in!

    6)   New Business

      • Apparel Sale
        1. Our apparel sale will be online once link is sent to us and up & running!
        2. We are hoping to have the apparel able to be picked up on Oct. 12th at our Bingo event.
      • First Friday Oct. 4th – Emilee Barton
      • Bingo- October 12th
    1. PTO will be hosting a free Bingo for Memorial students & their families.
    2. 20 games: 16 regular games with prizes & 4 special games with prizes

     

    1. PTO will be ordering game packets. BRING YOUR OWN dobber/marker!
    2. Must be school age and up in order to receive game cards.
    3. Send any prize ideas to ptome@bloomsd.org or Tyra Heeter
    4. PTO is looking for volunteers to run the concessions during this event.
      • Teacher Conference Meal- Oct. 28th

    i     PTO is looking for someone to chair this event. PTO has ordered from

    Catering For You in the past and it has always been an amazing experience and great food!

      • Trunk or Treat
        1. We are still waiting for a date.
        2. PTO will be looking for a committee for this event.
      • Custodian Appreciation Day- Oct. 2nd
        1. PTO is looking for someone to purchase 3 gifts for our custodians ($3 each)
          • Suggestions of gifts?
      • Krispy Kreme Signs
        1. Voted unanimous ‘yes’ to purchase 6 signs for our Krispy Kreme sales. These signs will total about $40.
      • Next Meeting Date
        1. PTO meetings will now be held on the SECOND Wednesday of the month.
    1. Announcements
      • Schedule of events has been included on the back of tonight’s agenda. As more dates are given/events come up, PTO will keep everyone posted via emails, Facebook posts, and flyers sent home.
      • If school is dismissed early or closed due to weather on the day of a PTO meeting, the meeting will be rescheduled.
      • Babysitting: PTO is looking for any HS students looking to earn community service hours. Contact Michelle Davis.
